Casting tuition is available on a one-to-one or one-to-two basis. The lesson is tailored to your needs, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced angler seeking to correct faults. If you have never tried fly fishing before, you can learn the basic casting techniques in just a few hours.
After your session, you’ll be a competent caster with a solid understanding of all the techniques necessary to start fishing independently. I will customise your lesson to suit your specific requirements. Whether it’s just the basic cast or distance casting, your lesson will cover it (and more) and be delivered in a relaxed and enjoyable manner.
All lessons are on an hourly basis and can be taken at a venue of your own choice.

Why not spend a day with me on one of the stunning Welsh rivers? I can be your guide for Trout and Grayling on the River Severn, River Wye, River Dee, and trout only on the River Usk, which offer fantastic fishing in both summer and winter.
The day would cover all casts needed to effectively fish for these elusive fish:

I will cover all the tactics you need to tackle any reservoir, from surface fishing to fast sink line methods. You will learn all the modern techniques that are at the forefront of this sport.
As a competitive angler, I keep my finger on the pulse – and I am more than happy to share my wealth of knowledge. The only downside is that you might suffer from information overload!
Of course, many fishing guides exist in this country, but I am unique in being able to correct any casting faults you might have and teach you everything you need to know about reservoir fishing.

I am a World Fly Casting Champion who demonstrates my skills at shows across the UK and internationally. My demonstrations are both entertaining and informative, engaging both anglers and non-anglers alike. They include a history of angling, casting with multiple rods, basic and specialist tackle, and salmon rod techniques. I offer three demonstration packages: fly casting only, fly casting with instruction, and fly casting, instruction, and fly tying. With my experience and talent, I will leave a lasting impression on your event visitors.

Hywel has presented programmes on fishing for Discovery Shed, Horse and Country TV and Welsh TV channel S4C over the years. He has also made appearances on ‘Record Breakers’, ’ and has been a guest on Sky TV’s ‘Tight Lines’ on numerous occasions.

Hywel’s DVD collection covers all aspects of fishing and casting and caters for all standards of anglers. Topics include casting, river fishing, bank fishing, pike fishing and reservoir boat fishing.
Hywel has been fishing for almost 50 years and during this time, he has become a World and European Casting Champion. He has also represented Wales more than 20 times at Home Internationals, Commonwealth, and World Fly Fishing Championships, where he has earned an individual silver medal and two team silver medals.
